PRIVATE PLACES, SPECIAL SPACES *

The Princeton Club of New York, 15 West 43rd Street, has held a block of rooms for us at a rate of $233 for Full/Single and $285 for Queen/King (includes all taxes).  For Princeton Club reservations, please call 212.596.1201 and mention the Class of '52 reunion no later than February 28, 2011. All rooms are subject to availability; we may be able to assist with accommodations at other clubs if need be.

The Princeton Club has had a makeover that leaves it with the look of a boutique hotel.  Keep up your workouts in the gym, get advice from trainers, play squash, get a haircut, borrow a library book, and drink under a PU scull in the bar (yes!)  The Club’s special reduced parking rate is $15 for 12 hours and $30 for up to 24 hours at the Icon Parking Garage at 36 West 43rd Street.  Parking tickets may be validated at the Club’s Front Desk.

As an alternative, The Holiday Inn Express will keep rooms for us until February 28, 2011 (15 West 45th Street).  The rate is $229 plus taxes.  For a reservation, please call 888.643.4664 and mention the Princeton University ’52 Reunion.

Friday, April 29

9:00 am:  A Bus Tour & India House

Dief Diefenbach has suggested a bus tour of New York.  We will do a drive-by of all the sites for the Mini-Reunion, plus get a glimpse at the work going on at Ground Zero.  Then, Marshall Keating will welcome us into his Club, India House, for coffee.  India House is located downtown in Hanover Square which houses a memorial garden for the British victims of September 11.

Cost: $45 per person (includes the bus)

OR

9:30 am:  Morning at the Met

Meet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for coffee and pastry, and then enjoy a private, one-hour highlights tour of the collection.  This has been generously arranged by Dief's daughter-in-law, an executive at the Museum.

Cost: $40 per person

12:30 pm: Lunch at The Colony

Enjoy a delicious lunch at The Colony Club, Park Avenue at 63rd Street.  Kathryn Livingston Forgan is a member, and she will tell us about this remarkable building and membership at The Colony.

Cost: $85 per person

2:00 pm:  Program at the Juilliard School.  The Juilliard President has reserved seats for us at the School's annual end of year variety show for the best of graduating students.  He will receive us and also show us the Peter Jay Sharp (P '52) Theater. (This is a substitute for the program previously planned.)

Cost: $16 per person

   OR

2:45 pm: Tour The Park Avenue (7th Regiment) Armory

The Park Avenue Armory, located at 66th Street is a quintessential New York place, hailed as containing some of the finest 19th Century interiors in the city.  It is also the training ground for the Knickerbocker Greys.  Our class includes one or more Greys, and I hope at least one of them will accompany our group and reminisce.  Donations to the Armory are tax deductible.

Cost: Free

6:00 pm: Drinks & Dinner at The Century Association

I am a member of this Club at 7 West 43rd Street.  Thanks to Ed Masinter, our speaker will be Harvey S. Rosen, Princeton's Weinberg Professor of Economics and Business Policy, Master of Whitman College, and Chairman of the President's Council of Economic Advisors, 2003-2005.

Cost: $145 per person

10:00 am:  Fitness Session

11:00 am:  Farewell Champagne Brunch

Cap off the reunion with a champagne brunch and glass of milk punch at The Princeton Club.

Transportation

Unless indicated, the costs above do not include transportation.  Cabs are readily available and, upon request at The Princeton Club, private car service is also an option.  For those comfortable with public transportation, a 7-day MetroCard is available for $29 per pass.  The Princeton Club will provide subway and bus options to all of our locations; directions will be included in our welcome packets.  Many locations are also accessible on foot for those of us fit enough to walk.

We have had a fine response to the initial letter about the Mini and look forward to a good crowd.  Please fill in the enclosed reservation form and return it with a check by January 15, 2011 so that we can make timely commitments for our activities.
